With celebrity emcee Edie Hand and internationally known neurologist/author Dr. Daniel Potts, the evening will be inspiring, entertaining, and educational. Ellen Marie Edmonds, an internationally known author and radio host, will be honoring her late husband, Frank Edmonds by sharing her personal journey with Frank’s vascular dementia and how it has allowed her to form collaborative partnerships to make a positive difference in the growing world of  Alzheimer’s and other dementia diseases.

Frank Edmonds retired as CEO of BellSouth/AT&T in Mississippi. As a Scout leader, a supporter of schools and education, and a community leader, he was charismatic and committed to making life better for others. As a war veteran and Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, he was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for the good of others, and now he proudly rests at Arlington National Cemetery. But with all Frank contributed to the world as a successful businessman, his greatest contribution could be the worldwide sharing of his journey to “littleness” through dementia disease.

In 2009, in response to growing statistics in Alabama and worldwide, the United for Life Foundation added the Alzheimer’s/dementia component to its portfolio. The
results have been impressively successful in bringing hope and practical help to many in need; and we invite you to join us in this most worthwhile event to continue our work. The Birmingham Baptist Association and the United for Life Foundation will jointly present a premier Alzheimer’s conference entitled, EMBRACING ALZHEIMER’S & OTHER DEMENTIAS, as a community resource for families, caregivers, clergy, and other professionals affected by or involved with dementia diseases.  The event takes place February 4-5, 2011 at Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Vestavia Hills.

Mike McLemore, Executive Director of the Birmingham Baptist Association, says the conference brings a much-needed resource to the Birmingham community. “The conference is scheduled for Friday afternoon and Saturday morning to accommodate professional schedules and family needs so that more in the community can attend and benefit.”  

According to Lee John Bruno, CEO of United for Life Foundation, the conference is both unique and complementary to other senior conferences.   “Attendees are presented with an educational blend that incorporates faith, medicine, nutrition, and science, along with an array of community resource providers. Our goal is to empower people in the community with hope and practical help in responding to dementia diseases.”

Scripture reminds us that we can never be separated from the Love of the Lord.

Gwyn Moore and Judy Ritter tell the story of the day they witnessed in prayer in front of Planned Parenthood in Birmingham Alabama , the first time either saw a “Biomedical Collection” occur where the fetal remains of aborted babies and their body parts were being transported out of the clinic to a truck.  I have personally seen this when I have been praying and it is a chilling event, heartbreaking for those who truly understand the reality of the lives lost at these killing centers. God’s precious creations he is gifting the world with sold as experimental material.  As Gwyn took the picture, Judy prayed and the picture below shows a unusual and specific PINK rays of light (exactly like the Divine Mercy Picture) and only on the box of aborted baby parts.

Life changing miracles have occurred as a result of faithful prayer at this site during 40 days for life, 28 babies are alive today, spared from abortion .  The woman in the picture has left her job transporting aborted baby body parts and found better employment.  A grandmother has been consoled upon seeing the picture and feeling for the first time that her grandchild lost to abortion is in heaven with the Lord.  A woman with a scheduled abortion appointment made a decision for life upon seeing the picture as this convinced her that what she was carrying truly was a child Loved and created by God and not just a “blob of tissue”.

Building on the past two programs in the series topic “Alzheimer’s and Grief: The Pain of Dementia Disease”, guest Msgr. Paul Rohling – Vicar General of the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama and Pastor of Our Lady of the Valley Church, discusses the very important roles that faith and forgiveness play in coping with the pain of grief in Alzheimer’s and dementia disease.  Particular discussions include relationships with young children and grandchildren, adult children, and spouse situations where there is a history of pain and unforgiveness.  Sharing from personal experience in family and pastoral situations, Msgr. Rohling sheds light on how to respond to situations in light of God’s call to love and forgive.  Also discussed was the issue of administering Holy Communion to elderly patients and how to recognize if the patient should not/cannot receive. An excellent program for families, caregivers, clergy, counselors, and other professionals affected by Alzheimer’s or other dementia diseases.

Dana explains how the Owners of New Women All Women Abortuary in downtown Birmingham have placed a metal sign on their property and used it for over a decade to support their illegal misinterpretation of the old ruling against three speccific individuals from being within yards of their property ,  this business has convinced local law enforcement officials and local pro-life leaders that the ruling applies to Everyone, thereby effectively stopping prayer on the public sidewalk on that entire side of the street.  These abortion providers make money when they perform abotions and they do everything in thier power to insure women cannot be provided with offers for assistance or objective medical information that might help them realize they have options other than ending the life of their babies. 

Dana and her team of lawyers were in Birmingham this last week observing the “Survivors” a group of college students who were repeatedly harrassed while praying on that sidewalk for 2 days then eventually arressted with an false temporary restraining order, which was summarily dropped in a few minutes in court on Monday once the legal facts were presented.  Father Terry called in to provide the spiritual view of the Birmingham Letter Project, he noted that our country has allowed the killing of innocent babies for 36years now, so long that not only have these 52 million babies lost the right to thier lives , but this culture of death is expanding to where we as Americans , in particular anyone in Birmingham Al in front of that abortion mill has lost their first amendment right of freedom to pray, freedom to speak to the women going in, freedom of assembly and freedom of association.  Both Dana and Terry are confident that God’s mercy and Justice will prevail and that these freedoms will be regained.
